Discover Israel in Minimester 2023 with Towson University! Explore Israeli culture and learn about educational and social services at the national and local level. Learn how policies and pedagogies are being put into practice in the urban centers of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv; in small communities in the Negev; and in Baltimore's sister city, Ashkelon. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with local community members including teachers, human and social service providers, students, and administrators. 

Program highlights include a tour of the Weitzman Institute of Science, visits to the Ayalon Institute and Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum, and excursions to the Dead Sea and an active archaeological dig.

December 29, 2022 - January 10, 2023. Class assignments and lectures will also take place online and/or on the Towson University campus prior to and after the experience in Israel.

OCTOBER 15, 2022. Admission is on a rolling basis. Early application is advised as space is limited.

FMST 370/570 Special Topics in Family Studies (3 credits). FMST 570 is open to graduate students only. TU students may receive Honors credit for their study abroad experience.

Shared rooms (double occupancy) in hotels throughout the program. Breakfast daily.

Program fee includes academic credit, roundtrip transportation to Newark International airport, roundtrip international airfare, housing, daily breakfast and most meals, excursions, activities, and health insurance. Additional costs include all other meals, personal expenses, and the Study Abroad/Away Fee.

The Towson University Study Abroad & Away Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.

TU students who are are affiliated with the Baltimore Hebrew Institute will receive a $1,000 discount off of the program fee!

NOTE: International airfare IS included in the program cost.Students are required to participate in the group flight.

Withdrawals/Refunds: After admission into the program, the student is responsible for the full program fee. Should the student wish to withdraw from the program for any reason after admission, only recoverable expenses may be refunded. Non-recoverable expenses may include but are not limited to costs paid to a study abroad provider, travel agency, or other third party by TU on the students behalf; housing; transportation; non-refundable deposits; activity fees; honorariums; guest lecture fees. Towson University withdrawal/drop/add deadlines do not apply. The student must submit their intention to withdraw in writing to the TU Study Abroad & Away Office.

Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, a high school diploma or equivalent experience, and be at least 18 years old.

IMPORTANT: We strongly encourage all study abroad/away participants to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 prior to their experience. Participants will be subject to the entry requirements and COVID related regulations of the host destination and program provider/host institution. We recommend students consider purchasing travel insurance with cancel for any reason (CFAR) coverage. Students will be responsible for any COVID related expenses incurred during their experience abroad/away.
